Dr. AviWeisfogel: It is all in a Good Night Rest

While the risk factors of sleep apnea increase significantly with excess weight and age, this disease can affect almost anyone any age. Roughly 50% of patients with sleep apnea are overweight or obese. The excess fat deposits my block portions of the airway, which result in difficulties breathing. Fat deposits on the waist or neck can be particularly dangerous, due to blockage of airways. Sleep apnea risks can also increase in people with narrow airways or enlarged tonsils. Data may also suggest that smoking and high blood pressure can also increase the risk of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a potentially fatal sleep disorder if not caught and treated properly. Dr. AviWeisfogel founder of Dental Sleep Matters, has dedicated much of his career to treating patients with sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.

Dr. AviWeisfoegel established dental office in 1999, and managed the office for more than 15 years. During this time, Dr. Weisfogel developed an interests in sleep and treating patients with sleep disorders. He was driven to better understand how physicians and dentists could work together to improve the lives of patients with sleep disorders. This interests led Dr. Weisfogel to establish Healthy Heart Sleep, a company which advises physicians on the establishment of sleep labs.

A few years later in 2012, Dr. Weisfogel founded Owner Unlimited Sleep Patient, where he began lecturing dentists on how to work with sleep disorder patient. In 2014, Dr. Weisfogel furthered his interest by establishing Dental Sleep Matters. Dental sleep Matters educates dentists on the use of oral appliances to treat patients with sleep disorders. Much of Dr. Weisfogel focuses much of his work on sleep apnea. Dr. Weisofogel, through Dental Sleep Matters, educates dentists on identifying and treating potential sleep apnea patients.
